3 beams were like this - they have had new ends, a technique i believe is called scarfing
these new ends were also rotten, so they had to be replaced...
firstly, jack up the floor above on acro-props
'cut' one end off each beam - i say 'cut' as they were so rotten i did this with a crow-bar.
all three removed
this was the lintle holding the wall up above this window - perhaps the cause of the rot .?
it had to go too, so...
more acro-props to hold the wall up.
this is the new lintle being prepared with the matching cut-outs for the beams
and installed - not a great picture i'm afraid.
